In short: Address Guard does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. There is no server, no account, and no analytics. Everything stays on your device, encrypted, and only you can unlock it.
Address Guard detects and hides your personal details if they appear on a webpage you're viewing: for example, to prevent accidentally showing them during a livestream or screen share. To do that, it handles information you enter yourself:

All of this is entered by you, in the extension. None of it is gathered automatically, and none of it is ever sent anywhere.

what you are doing)The extension's content script reads the visible text of the page you are viewing and compares it against your saved details, entirely inside your browser. Where something matches, the text is visually replaced so it cannot be read on screen.
It also checks the contents of form fields: for example, an address autofilled into a checkout page: and visually blurs them when they match. The value inside the field is never modified, so pages continue to work and submit exactly what you typed; only its appearance changes.
Nothing about the pages you visit is stored, logged, or sent anywhere. The comparison happens transiently, in memory, purely to decide what to hide. This requires permission to run on the sites you visit, because personal details can appear on any page: but that access is used only for this comparison.
The extension can report a location you choose, instead of your real one, to sites that ask your browser where you are. This is off unless you turn it on, and the city or coordinates you pick are stored on your device with your other settings.
When it is on, a site requesting your location receives the position you selected. Your real position is never read, stored, or sent anywhere by the extension.
This does not hide your IP address. Many sites work out roughly where you are from your IP rather than by asking your browser, and this feature cannot change that. It should be treated as one layer of location privacy, not all of it.
You can export a backup of your saved data to a file. That file is still encrypted: it can only be read with your PIN or recovery code. It is written directly to your computer by your browser and is not uploaded anywhere.
Once a backup file exists on your device, you are responsible for where it is kept. If you store it somewhere shared or synced, its security depends on that location as well as on your PIN.
Your saved data cannot be recovered: not by you, and not by the developer. There is no copy of it anywhere else and no way to reset it. This is a direct consequence of the encryption being real: the same property that stops anyone else reading your data also means it cannot be restored without one of your credentials. If this happens, you can delete the saved data and start again.
Address Guard is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since no information is collected at all, this applies universally.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address and reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last revised.
